If I could make the next Mario game...I would definitely bring back what was awesome about Super Mario 64.

I imagine a more open world Mario game. I understand that Nintendo wanted to go back to it's roots and bring us some old school Mario, but when I first played Super Mario 64 it changed my life.

The idea that Mario could explore a 3D environment was mind blowing! I hope that future Mario games bring back that open world exploration with HUGE levels!

Anyway, I hope you like my take on the next Mario game!

Beautiful idea, well executed. I like the idea of Super Mario 64's openness, with old-school elements like question mark blocks.

My dream Mario game is open-exploration like this one, but with a health system based on your form like in the sidescroller games...and I'm not talking a game like Super Mario 3D Land. I mean something like Super Mario 64, but with more Question-Mark Blocks with items in them, because your health is based on your form. So if you get hit as Super Mario, you become normal Mario; normal Mario dies on contact with enemies; and all other forms downgrade to Super Mario unless they put a Mini Mushroom in the game. And maybe there'd be things like unlit torches in Peach's Castle, that you'd have to finish a Power Star Mission as Fire Mario in order to be able to light and unlock secrets; or other things like that for the other forms. And it would have simultanious-multiplayer like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and the NSMB games that came after it, although I'm gussing in an open-exploration game it would be limited to just two players at a time because of the camera.

I would so fav this if I could reach the fav button without scrolling (my Nook's browser stops working when I try to scroll manually. I got down here by clicking on the "177 comments" thing below the deviation name). Although, your picture is landscape-oriented; I might be able to reach it.

For whatever reason, this put the overworld theme from Paper Mario: Sticker Star in my head.
